Every December, DFW transforms. From Highland Park's storybook estates to Frisco's planned-community light shows, North Texas does Christmas big. Here are the best places to drive around and gawk at lights this season — and a few of our favorite homes we've installed.
1. Highland Park — Armstrong Parkway
The most famous Christmas light destination in Texas. Start at Armstrong Parkway and Preston Road, drive through the storybook estates. Many of the houses you'll see are our installs. The estates here go all-out: warm white rooflines, full tree wraps, custom wreaths, illuminated nativities. See our Highland Park installs →

The standout DFW homes share three traits: a single consistent palette (usually warm white), continuous unbroken rooflines with no gaps, and hidden cords. It reads as intentional design rather than decoration.
2. Interlochen — Arlington
A whole neighborhood that goes synchronized every December. Some homes use radio-frequency timers to coordinate. Best on weeknights to avoid traffic chaos.
3. Vitruvian Park — Addison
Free, walkable, and beautiful. The trees around Vitruvian Lake get fully wrapped in warm white lights every December. Bring a thermos of cocoa.
4. Deerfield — Plano
A whole subdivision that participates. Block after block of homes lit up. Some of the homes here have used us; you can spot our work by the precision of the rooflines.
5. Swiss Avenue — Dallas
Historic 1920s-era mansions along Swiss Avenue dress up beautifully for Christmas. The architecture lends itself to traditional warm white displays.
6. The Frisco Square — Frisco
Public commercial display with synchronized music. Great for kids. Combine with dinner at one of the surrounding restaurants.

Highland Park: the Park Cities tradition
Highland Park sets the gold standard for DFW residential Christmas lighting. The neighborhood's tradition of elegant, coordinated warm-white displays on historic estates is the closest thing the South has to a Christmas movie come to life.
What makes Highland Park different:
- Architectural cohesion — Most of the historic estates were built in the 1920s-1950s and share a vocabulary: brick, stone, dormers, gabled rooflines, mature live oaks. The lighting respects that vocabulary.
- Tree wrapping mastery — Highland Park's mature oak alleys are the showpieces. Many homes wrap 4-8 trees on their property — a massive undertaking but visually unforgettable.
- Restraint over excess — You won't see inflatable Santas or wild laser shows here. The aesthetic is "beautiful restraint" — soft warm-white lighting that highlights the architecture rather than competing with it.
Best streets for a Christmas light drive: Lakeside Drive (along Turtle Creek), Beverly Drive, Mockingbird Lane between Preston Road and Tollway, and the cross-streets connecting these arteries. December evenings between 6:30-9:00 PM are optimal.
Preston Hollow: estate-scale luxury
If Highland Park is "elegant restraint," Preston Hollow is "estate-scale luxury." The walled estates along Strait Lane, Park Lane, and Lupton are some of the largest residential properties in Dallas — and the holiday lighting reflects that scale.
You won't see all of these displays from the street (many estates are set far back behind walls and trees), but the ones that do show from the road are jaw-dropping. Multi-acre properties with dozens of mature live oaks all wrapped, gate-house lighting, fountain illumination, and rooflines that take days to install.
Best Preston Hollow drives: Strait Lane between Walnut Hill and Royal Lane, Park Lane between Inwood and Hillcrest, and Lupton Avenue around Walnut Hill. The 8000-block of Park Lane and Hill Forest Drive are particularly notable.
Deerfield, Plano: HOA-coordinated magic
Plano's Deerfield neighborhood does Christmas lights as a community sport. Over 600 homes participate in coordinated displays, drawing thousands of cars through the neighborhood every December.
What makes Deerfield special isn't any single house — it's the cumulative effect. Block after block of decorated homes, with no "dark" houses to break the spell. The HOA actively encourages and even organizes participation. The "Best Decorated" contest in early December raises everyone's game.
Deerfield is a 30-minute drive-through experience. Enter from Coit Road or Independence Parkway and meander through the side streets. The peak weekend (typically the second weekend of December) sees serious traffic — go on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening for a calmer drive.
Interlochen, Arlington: the original drive-through experience
For nearly 50 years, Interlochen in Arlington has been the original DFW Christmas light drive-through neighborhood. Started in the 1970s as a friendly competition between neighbors, it now hosts an estimated 100,000+ visitors each December.
Interlochen is more "exuberant Christmas" than Highland Park's "elegant Christmas." Inflatable characters, animated displays, music-synced lights, and creative themed houses. Think National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation crossed with neighborhood pride.
Located in the Pioneer Parkway and Center Street area of Arlington, Interlochen is best visited between 6-10 PM in mid-December. Park on a side street and walk — it's the most fun way to experience it.
Stonebriar and Phillips Creek Ranch, Frisco: new luxury
Frisco's master-planned luxury communities have become serious Christmas lighting destinations in the last 5-10 years. Stonebriar (around the country club) and Phillips Creek Ranch are leading the way.
What's interesting about these neighborhoods is the architectural variety. Unlike Highland Park's cohesive historic feel, Frisco luxury is Mediterranean, Tuscan, modern transitional, and traditional all on the same street. The Christmas lighting reflects that — you'll see everything from classic warm white to bold multicolor on a single drive.
The Mediterranean-roofed homes with red tile and warm white C9 LED are particularly photogenic. Best streets: Stonebrook Parkway through Stonebriar Country Club, and the side streets off Eldorado Parkway in Phillips Creek Ranch.
Snider Plaza & University Park: the Park Cities walk
While most of these recommendations are drive-through, University Park is one of the best walking Christmas light experiences in DFW. The streets around Snider Plaza, SMU, and McFarlin Boulevard have walkable Christmas magic.
The historic Park Cities homes — Tudor revivals, brick colonials, Spanish Mission style — look standout up close. Many feature wreaths on every window (a Park Cities signature), porch garland, and warm white roofline outlines. The combination is unmistakable.
Park anywhere near Snider Plaza, grab a coffee or hot chocolate, and walk the cross-streets of Hillcrest, Hyer, and Williams Park. Best on Friday and Saturday evenings when families are out walking too.
Add yours to the list
If your home isn't on this list yet, it can be next year. The luxury holiday lighting market in DFW is growing fast — neighborhoods like Vaquero Club (Westlake), Carillon (Southlake), Lucas estates, and Windsong Ranch (Prosper) are becoming serious destinations as their custom holiday displays mature.
We've helped hundreds of DFW homeowners create displays that get talked about, photographed, and driven by. If you'd like your home to be one of those, see our Highland Park installations, Frisco service, or Southlake luxury pages — or simply call us at (469) 970-2715 for a free design consultation.

The difference is in the details.
Three things separate professional luxury Christmas light installation from amateur work: materials, craftsmanship, and service relationship. Materials matter because commercial-grade C9 LED bulbs with sealed gaskets and polycarbonate shells last 10-15+ years compared to 2-3 seasons for big-box residential strands. The visible difference at the curb is significant — commercial-grade reads as crisp and elegant; residential-grade reads as fuzzy and inconsistent. Over many years, the cost difference is more than recovered through reliability.
Craftsmanship is where amateur installations fail and professional installations excel. Custom-cut C9 LED strands fitted exactly to your home's rooflines — every gable, dormer, valley, and architectural detail — create the magazine-quality holiday display that template installations simply cannot match. Every bulb evenly spaced. Every line clean. Every transition smooth. The lights look like they were designed for your home specifically, because they were.
Service relationship is what transforms transactional installation into long-term partnership. Free in-season service calls when something fails. January takedown and year-round storage so you store nothing. Lifetime warranty on installed LEDs. Returning customer priority and locked pricing. Same crew returning year after year, building deep familiarity with your home. The difference between installing Christmas lights once and being part of a homeowner's annual holiday tradition is real, and it's the difference our 500+ DFW customers per season come back for year after year.
