Why pricing varies by city.

The same square foot home in Westlake costs roughly 2x what it would in Allen — and there are real reasons for that. Here's what actually drives the difference:

Home size and complexity

Highland Park's average luxury home is 5,500+ sq ft with multiple gables, dormers, and architectural detail. Allen's average home is 2,800 sq ft with simpler rooflines. More linear footage of roofline = more lights = more cost.

Tree wrapping scope

A Westlake estate might have 8-15 mature trees that get wrapped. A standard Allen home might have 0-2. Each large tree adds $200-$600 to install cost depending on size and strand count.

Specialty work

Luxury markets often need wreaths on every gable, lit garland on porte-cochères, accent lighting on landscape elements, and coordination with existing landscape lighting. Standard family homes typically just need rooflines and maybe 1-2 wreaths.

Material grade expectations

In luxury markets, customers expect 100% commercial-grade C9 LED with custom-cut strands. In standard markets, mini-light strands or factory-cut C9 strings may meet expectations at lower price points.

What actually drives the price difference between cities

The city on the invoice matters less than what's behind the front door. Three things move your number more than your zip code: the size and complexity of your roofline, how much custom detail you want (wrapped trees, multiple peaks, garland and wreaths), and the height of the install. A single-story ranch in any DFW city lands near the entry range; a two-story estate with steep gables runs higher whether it's in Plano, Frisco, or Highland Park.

Where city does matter is home size trends. Communities with larger luxury homes — Highland Park, Southlake, Westlake, the estate sections of Frisco and Prosper — simply have more roofline and more detail to light, which is why their typical ranges sit higher. It's not a premium for the address; it's more linear feet of lighting.

Because we're based in nearby Plano and serve the whole metroplex, you pay the same honest per-foot pricing wherever you are — your quote reflects your home, not your distance from us. Cost questions, answered

How much does Christmas light installation cost in DFW?

Most DFW homes run between $750 and $2,500 for professional installation, with the typical home landing around $1,200–$1,800. Larger or two-story estates with extensive detail can run higher. Pricing includes design, commercial-grade C9 LED, installation, in-season service, takedown, and storage.

Does Christmas light installation cost more in cities like Highland Park or Southlake?

Not because of the address — it's because those communities tend to have larger homes with more roofline and detail to light. The per-foot price is the same; there's simply more to install. A modest home in those cities costs about the same as a modest home anywhere in DFW.

What is the cost per foot for Christmas light installation?

Roughly $5–$12 per linear foot for residential C9 LED in DFW, and $7–$15 per foot for commercial, including bulbs, clips, install, service, takedown, and storage. A typical single-story home has 150–250 feet of lit roofline.

Why is professional installation worth it over DIY?

Professional installation includes commercial-grade lights that last for years, custom-cut strands, safe installation on tall or steep rooflines, mid-season repairs, and takedown and storage — so you never climb a ladder or store tangled lights. For two-story homes especially, it's far safer and the result is sharper.
